Ghorepani- Poonhill Trekking ! Ghorepani Ghandruk Treks !

This is one of the most pleasant low altitude treks in the Annapurna region. We will start the trek in Nayapul, an hour's drive from Pokhara. Soon after commencing the trek we reach Birethanti at the confluence of two river valleys after refreshments we take the left fork to follow the Bharungdi Khola (river) before climbing to the ridge at Tikhedhunga (1150mtr). The beauty of this part of Nepal is that you do not have to trek long to have some wonderful close up views of the Annapurna range including the sacred mountain Machhapuchhre (6997m). After a journey to Poon hill for sunrise mountain views we leave the more crowded trekking trails to travel through magnificent rhododendron and oak forests on our way to the ornate and traditional village of Ghandruk where there is ample time to explore the village. The following day we trekked for three hours to meet our bus at Naypool to drive to Pokhara.

Ghorepani Poon Hill TrekkingAfter relaxing in Pokhara for a day we travel to the banks of the Trisuli for a rafting and safari adventure towards Chitwan National Park. Two nights are spent following a programme of activities before returning to Kathmandu either by flight or overland.

 

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu & transfer to hotel.
Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu & Preparation for Trekking
Day 03: Drive or fly to Pokhara (800m).
Day 04: Drive to Nayapul and trek to Tirkhendhunga (1577m).
Day 05: Trek to Ghorepani (2850m).
Day 06: Early Morning Trek to Poon Hill for sunrise View then  trek to Tadapani (2595m).
Day 07: Trek to Ghandruk.
Day 08: Trek To Nayapul then drive back to Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara.
Day 09: Drive or Fly back to Kathmandu. Evening Farewell dinner with Nepali cultural dance.
Day 10: Departure to onward destination..

Details of Itinerary.

Day 1 – Arrive Kathmandu                                                                                       
After a short transit in New Delhi, you will board for your onward flight to Kathmandu, Nepal. Upon arrival in Kathmandu airport; you will be met and greeted by a Lumle representative and transferred to the hotel. The rest of the time will be your own for leisure. Overnight stay in a hotel.

Day 2 – Kathmandu Sightseeing

After breakfast we will drive to Pashupatinath temple. The holiest of holy Hindu temples in south Asia is the focal point of pilgrimage from all over the sub-continent. The holy river Bagmati flowing nearby is the cremation ground of the Hindus. Funeral pyres can be viewed from across the riverbank. We then visited Boudhanath. Probably the largest stupa in the world is also found in Kathmandu valley-the great stupa of Boudhanath. Again the omni-sighted eyes of the Buddha stare in all the directions. This Stupa is the place of worship of Tibetan Buddhists predominantly. We then proceed to Bhaktapur. Bhaktapur is one of the oldest cities in Kathmandu valley. It is well known as the Living Museum. Old brick paved enclave of the old Royal palace, Nyathapola Temple, Dattatreya temple exquisite artwork offers a picture of the grandeur of medieval Nepal. It is very famous for woodcarving and pottery products. Finally we will  visit another Vishnu temple of Changunarayan which is the oldest known temple existing in the valley dating back to the 4th century.

Day 3 - Kathmandu - Pokhara
After breakfast you will be dropped at Kathmandu domestic airport for flight to Pokhara. Whilst on your flight to Pokhara, you will have an opportunity to watch scenic and impressive mountainous views. Upon arrival in Pokhara airport; you will meet with our staff. Rest of the day is left at your leisure where you have got so much to do from boating in Fewa Lake to dining in decent restaurants around lakeside, shopping etc Or You can drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. It will take 6-7 hrs to reach Pokhara.

Day 04 -Pokhara - Tikhedhunga (1577m)
We start our trek from Nayapul (1050m.). We would drive up to Nayapul from Pokhara. From Nayapul, we would trek to Tikhedhunga (1577 m.) via Birethanti (1065m.) which takes about four and half hours. Overnight in a teahouse.

Day 05 -Tirkhedhunga - Ghorepani (2855m.)
We trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2675 m.). Today we could ascend down gently passing through Ulleri (2070m.) and Banthanti, Magar villages. On the way, one could see majestic views of Machhapuchhre (6997m.), Huinchuli (6441m.), and Annapurna South (7219m.). Overnight at Ghorepani.

Day 06 -Ghorepani - Punhill (3180m.) and then to Tadapani (2675m.)
Today we trek from Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3180m.) and then to Tadapani (2675m.). We cover the distance within five and half hours of a normal trek. Early in the morning, we will  start our trip to Punhill (3180m.) to enjoy the sunrise view over Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m.), Tukuche Peak (6920m.), Nilgiri (6940m.), Varaha Shikhar (7847m.), Mt. Annapurna I (8091m.), Annapurna South (7219m.), Annapurna III (7855m.), Machhapuchhre (6993m.), Annapurna IV (7525m.), Annapurna II (7937m.), Lamjung Himal (6931m.) and numerous other snow capped mountain peaks. Having breakfast at Ghorepani, trek to Tadapani (2650 m.) through the deep forests of rhododendrons, bamboos and oaks. En route, one can observe waterfalls, rocks, wild animals, birds and green valleys. Overnight at Tadapani.

Day 07 -Tadapani (2675m.) - Ghandruk (1950m.)
Trek from Tadapani (2675m.) to Ghandruk (1950m.). Comparatively, today is the easiest trek of all days. One has to trek through the forests of Rhododendron and oak. One could hear the soothing chirp of birds on the way. This trek also offers the best alternative for bird lovers. Ghandruk is a big Gurung village. There is a handicraft centre and Gurung museum. From this village you could observe good views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna (7455m.), Annapurna III (7755m.) and Fishtail. Ghandruk village is listed in the World Heritage Site. Overnight at Ghandruk. In the evening, a typical Gurung Cultural program will be organized on demand.

Day 08 - Ghandruk (1950m.) - Nayapul-Pokhara
Trek from Ghandruk (1950m.) to Nayapul . The first part of our trek is quite steep up to Kimbu (Bee hive in Gurung language). Kimbu is situated at an elevation of 1200 meters on the bank of Modi Khola. One has to ascend following the stone staircase to Landruk. The trail descends gradually for at least an hour and follows a gravel road for one hour and then descends to Nayapul. Drive back to Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara.

 

Day 09 - Pokhara- Kathmandu
After Breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu airport, you will be met by our staff  and transferred to your hotel. Or You will drive back to Kathmandu.  It will take 6-7 hrs. Evening we will have a farewell dinner with Nepali cultural dance.

Day 10 – Departure Kathmandu
After Breakfast  you will be transferred to the airport for flight to  your onward journey.
