Langtang Valley Trekking

Langtang Valley Trekking ! Langtang kyanjin Gompa Treks !

The Langtang Valley is situated 120 km north of Kathmandu it is a beautiful alpine valley now a National Park bordering Tibet. Langtang is considered one of the best short treks in Nepal; a trek that takes you to the foot of the Nepal Himalaya without too much exertion. There is also an extensive glacier system worth viewing in the upper stretches of the valley. Tamange's, the major ethnic group inhabiting, are Tibetan in all aspects, but for twenty miles. Most people following the Langtang trek will either trek in and out the valley (around seven/eight days) or combine the valley with a trek through Helambu (12/14 days) then trek back almost to Kathmandu.

Langtang Valley

The trek begins at Syabrubesi. It is reached by a seven to eight hour journey by road where you stayed overnight. Trekking up the valley is not difficult and it takes your right to the base of the mountains. Your destination is Kayangin Ghompa where you make a base as it is the last habitat point there are many lodges and basic hotels. From kyanging you can make some short climbs of the hills around or travel further up the valley to explore the glacier systems.
